Church Point – The No. 4 Crowley Ladies could only manage nine hits as the Church Point Lady Bears advanced in the Class 3A playoffs with a 6-3 victory.

The Ladies, a state semifinalist in 2018, ended with an overall mark of 24-7 and a share of the District 5-3A championship.

After the Lady Bears took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, the Ladies managed to tie the game in the top fourth.

But, Church Point came back in the bottom of the frame to regain the lead, 2-1.

The Lady Bears put some distance between themselves and the Ladies by scoring four runs in the fifth inning aided by three Crowley errors.

The Ladies answered with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning thanks to a two-run single by Sckylier Baronet, but the game ended on a fly out to the catcher.

CHS’ Nella LaGrange was tagged with the loss after striking out four and giving up eight hits.  The Ladies were led in hitting by Lily Hoffpauir and Jocelyn Marceaux with two hits each.  Lagrange, Baronet, Payton Breaux, Alana Abshire and Cienna O’Donnell each had one hit.
