IOTA – The Iota Lady Bulldogs held on for a 48-39 victory over the intra-parish and District 5-3A rival Crowley Ladies in the Class 3A playoff opener here Thursday.

It was third time during the season Iota had defeated Crowley.

The Ladies ended the season with a record of 14-14.

Crowley scored the first six points of the game and was able to push the lead to eight points in the first period, but Iota finished the frame with some momentum and trailed 16-11.

The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Ladies 13-7 in the second period to take the 24-23 halftime lead.

The lead grew to seven points, 32-25, as Iota had the 8-2 advantage over the next five minutes.

Crowley cut the deficit down to four, 39-35, with five minutes remaining in the contest, but they were not able to get any closer.

Taylor Perkins was the only Crowley player to finish in double figures as she scored 11 points. Mirya’Nekia Lastrapes scored eight points, followed by Lily Hoffpauir with seven points, Marcy Miller and Imani Jackson with five points each, and Tyzanekia Price with three.
