BATON ROUGE – The No. 10 Glen Oaks Panthers settled down and held on for a 53-48 victory over the No. 23 Crowley Gents in the Class 3A playoffs here Friday.

With the loss, the Gents finished the season 17-12.

Marquarius Thorne was the only Crowley High player to score in double figures, finishing with a team-high 19 points.

The Gents actually grabbed the early momentum and held the lead 17-12 after the first period.

The Panthers, however, bounced back and outscored Crowley 17-7 in the second frame for the 29-24 lead at halftime.

The Gents were within four points of the Panthers, 39-35, heading into the fourth period by outscoring the hosts 11-10.

The Gents had a chance to tie the game in the final frame, but the three-point attempt did not connect.

Also scoring for Crowley were Bryan Montgomery with eight points, Ronderick Nelson with seven points, Noah Hayes and Braeden Board with six points each, and Marquis Garrett with two points.
