WESTLAKE – After spotting the Westlake Rams a touchdown, the Crowley Gents responded with 45 straight points for the easy 45-6 victory here Friday.

The Gents ran for 476 yards on 29 carries on the evening.

Crowley had two running backs run for over 100 yards during the game, led by junior Obadiah Butler with 152 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries. Senior Jai’Rece Lewis finished with 103 yards and one score on and four carries.

Crowley’s defense gave up only 201 total yards and 11 first downs.

The first CHS touchdown was set up by a 43-yard run by Lewis.  Junior quarterback Marquis Garrett followed with a 27-yard run on the next play.

Crowley went up 12-6 when senior defensive lineman Josh Richard intercepted a pass and returned it 34 yards.

The third Crowley touchdown took only four plays.  Lewis broke free for 36 yards for the score to put the Gents up 20-6 late in the opening quarter.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Rams couldn’t hang on to the ball, which gave the Gents the ball near the 50-yard line.   Garrett connected with senior wide receiver Demarcus Dioron to put Crowley at the Rams 21-yard line.  Butler did the rest from there to put the Gents up 26-6.

Butler also scored the Gents’ next touchdown, outrunning the Westlake defense for a 54-yard touchdown.

After Westlake failed on an onside attempt,  Crowley scored on the very next play as Butler took the handoff from Garrett at midfield broke loose.

The final Crowley touchdown occurred with the backups on the field. Freshman Jonkeyvan Marks did the honors, rushing for the score from 44 yards away.

Camron Dugar finished with 83 yards on four carries.  Tyron Goodley had six totes for 45 yards.

Garrett completed two of six passes for 36 yards.  Dioron caught one pass for 21 yards, and senior tight end Rapheus Joseph caught one for 15 yards.
